Registered Landscape Architect
Fazio Associates is a professional landscape architecture firm that has been serving public and private clients in the greater Puget Sound region and across Washington since 2006. We believe that sustainable design should always be a part of the design fabric, while the extent is driven by the particular client’s needs, program and budget. We enjoy collaborating with other team members to develop a vision to maximize the project's success, while taking into account our role as stewards of the land by achieving a balance between the project's program and the constraints of the site.
Robert Fazio, ASLA, Principal, has focused on campus master planning, landscape design for campus buildings, public facility projects, and planning and design for multi-family housing; market-rate and affordable housing. He also has extensive experience with roadway, transportation facility and transit-related projects, including design for streetscape improvement projects, environmental mitigation, and commuter rail and light rail projects. Rob is committed to careful site analysis at each project’s inception to ensure the design fully utilizes the site's potential while protecting its existing amenities. He efficiently manages projects using a task-oriented, organized approach. He views difficulties and constraints as opportunities to devise creative solutions for a more successful project.
Rob received his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Iowa State University in 1996 and loves everything the great Pacific Northwest has to offer. Rob has been a proud member of the Seattle community since 1996 and enjoys using design as a vehicle to create user-friendly spaces that foster social interaction and community building.
Virginia joined Fazio Associates in the spring of 2014 and enjoys their variety of projects, particularly when the firm works with non-profits and housing authorities to improve the living conditions of people in need. She earned her Master of Landscape Architecture and Master of Urban Planning degrees from the University of Washington in 2014, and earned her Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Kansas in 2005. From 2005 to 2010, she was employed as an intern architect in a small firm in St. Louis where she worked on projects in historic preservation, residential and sustainable design. In 2008, she spent a year in Argentina working with two Argentinean architects. While at UW, Virginia was a teaching assistant and instructor in digital graphics, covering AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Adobe CS, and Rhino. She put these skills and her education to use working on large scale urban design projects at LMN Architects in the Urban Design department while she finished her thesis. After graduation, she joined Fazio Associates, where her range of experience contributes to the variety of scales and types of projects, from detailing to master planning. She sees landscape architecture as central to holistic design, integrating the public and private realms with each other and into the natural environment.
She has been involved with the local nonprofit organization Architects Without Borders-Seattle since 2012 and has served as a member of their Board of Directors since January 2014.
