This affordable housing project provides 89 studio apartments and one studio unit for a live-in staff member (90 units total) as well as on-site supportive services for formerly incarcerated and homeless residents. The arched entry and brick façade at ground level reflects an intimate scale and fits in to the Capitol Hill neighborhood fabric. The pedestrian experience along Belmont Avenue is enhanced by a back-of-sidewalk planting strip, street trees and a large courtyard. The courtyard is accessed directly from the main community room as well as from the lobby, allowing all tenants free and easy access to enjoy their outdoor space. Permeable brick pavers in the courtyard contribute to the intimate, residential feel, as well as lush planting with a specimen tree. A generous setback at the rear of the building allows for a substantial landscape buffer, and landscape at the south edge of the property creates a screen for the neighbor to the south.
