This uniquely-shaped site, just south of the intersection of Rainier Avenue S. and MLK Jr. Way S. and adjacent to the Mount Baker Light Rail Station, is highly walkable and lends itself to a public plaza at the southwest corner that is complemented by specimen trees, seat walls, benches, and bike racks. New street trees and planting strips provide a buffer from the heavy traffic, and the building setback along MLK Jr. Way S. gives additional space for planting to enhance the streetscape. A central courtyard on Level 2 provides a secure outdoor amenity space for the residents, including a play structure and two childcare patios, and treats stormwater with bioretention planters.
